We warmly welcome our new Visiting Fellow Denis Walsh to the KLI.

Denis is a professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto. He is a philosopher of science and has worked extensively on the nature of explanation in biology, the understanding of naturalized teleology, and its role in evolutionary biology. Since 2012, he has been researching the concept of agency and developed the “ecological account” of agency.

Denis will be a Visiting Fellow at the KLI from March 1 to May 31, 2026. His KLI project is titled “‘The Being of Living Beings’: A metaphysics for agency” and aims to extend the ecological account to the metaphysics of agency in general.

Denis will also give a talk titled "A Metaphysics for Dialectical Biology" at a KLI Colloquium on April 16, 2026.
