Juno Salazar Parreñas is an Associate Professor of Science and Technology Studies and Feminist,
Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Cornell University. She is the author of Decolonizing Extinction: The
Work of Care in Orangutan Rehabilitation, which received the 2019 Michelle Rosaldo Prize from the
Association for Feminist Anthropology and multiple honorable mentions from the Association for
Asian Studies and the American Anthropological Association. She edited the books Gender: Animals
and Pandemics: Past and Pending. Her work has appeared in American Ethnologist, Anthropology and
History, Cahiers d’Anthropologie Sociale, Catalyst: feminism, theory, technoscience, Environmental
Humanities, History and Theory, Tapuya: Latin American Science, Technology and Society, and
