Welcoming Eva Zaffarini to the KLI

We are very happy to welcome our new Writing-Up Fellow Eva Zaffarini to the KLI!

Eva completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences (2016) and Master's degree in Biology (2019) at the University of Milan-Bicocca. Her Master thesis, completed at the University of Vienna, focused on the societal transitions that cause high rates of c-sections worldwide, and on the sexual dimorphism of chimpanzee pelvises.

Eva is currently a PhD candidate in the Hallgrímsson Lab at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada. Her research focuses on the genetic factors and developmental processes underlying the covariation between skull shape and pelvic shape, particularly in relation to cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD) and the evolution of childbirth.

Additionally, Eva has also participated in other projects including the study of the development of mouse craniofacial sexual dimorphism, the study of human syndromes that result in craniofacial phenotypes, and the assessment of the precision of photogrammetry software.

At the KLI, she will be working on her projectGenotype to phenotype mapping of feto-maternal trait covariation: a multivariate approach to understanding Cephalo-Pelvic disproportion”.

Eva will be a Writing-Up Fellow at the KLI from 1st Feb to 31st July 2025.

Here’s wishing Eva a warm welcome and a fruitful stay at the KLI.
