As a young student in Russia, Alexander Oparin learned about Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection. However, even though it was a convincing theory of how life on earth had evolved, it did not have anything to say about how it started.

What is life? Where did it come from? Is it all part of a divine master plan, or was it a spectacular chemical “accident”?

We welcome Maria Cerezo (University of Murcia) to the KLI who will work on her project "Interactions between Metaphysics and Biology: Some Study-Cases in Molecular, Developmental and Evolutionary Biology" from July 30th to September 3rd.
